Galaxy Z Fold SE may be equipped with an S Pen

hello. TechnologyTodayNow. We’ve said many times before that the Fold 6 Slim, and now the Fold 6 Ultra, would be coming to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Now we have more news on the specs and S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold SE.

Galaxy Z Fold SE gets S Pen, more design news

Before I give you the latest, I’ll summarize what I’ve told you before.
Here’s what we know so far

  • Thickness: 10.6 mm when folded, 4.9 mm when unfolded
  • Appearance: Similar in appearance to Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold and significantly improved portability with thinner thickness
  • S Pen or not: S Pen input is not expected to be possible as the digitizer panel is expected to be missing

Based on the information we have, it doesn’t appear that the regular S Pen or the S Pen for Fold Edition will be available. So, if S Pen support is available, we’d expect it to be an AES-enabled pen with a battery or electricity generator built into the pen itself, like the Apple Pencil. Especially since it’s a special edition, I personally think it’s more likely that a separate S Pen will be included as part of the package, like the last Fold 5 Tom Brown edition.

Removing the digitizer panel and supporting the S Pen

However, according to recent IT leaker Ice Universe, there is a possibility that it will still support the S Pen. However, regarding related content, according to DSCC CEO Ross Young, the digitizer panel is not actually present in this Fold SE, and the digitizer panel was removed to reduce unit cost not only due to the thickness factor, but also due to factors such as the application of a titanium frame and the installation of a 200-pixel main camera. They say that if they actually support pen input, they will have to come up with another method that doesn’t require a digitizer panel.

Galaxy Z Fold SE expected price and design updates

According to Korean media, the Galaxy Z Fold SE is expected to cost between 2.6 million won ($1,944) and 2.8 million won ($2,094), which is definitely higher than the Fold 6. Ice Universe noted that the Z Fold SE will be similar to the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, with a thinner profile and a much wider cover screen than the Fold 6, and will be a more expensive model.

So far, we have reported on whether the Galaxy Z Fold SE will be equipped with the S Pen and the estimated price. Compared to Chinese foldable smartphones, the S Pen is a part that can be differentiated, and we hope that it will be released to match the ultra-high-priced product. We’ll keep you posted as we add more.
