Another news that makes you look forward to the Galaxy S25

hello. This is Technologytodaynow. Now, there is news that the upcoming Galaxy S25 series will be equipped with Micron’s RAM parts, so I’m going to take a closer look.

Galaxy S25 series to be equipped with Micron RAM

Relationship between Galaxy smartphones and Samsung components

Relationship between Galaxy smartphones and Samsung components

The parts installed in Galaxy smartphones generally use parts from affiliates of the Samsung Group, unless they are low-end products to lower manufacturing costs. However, the situation for Samsung this year was a bit bad due to the summer. As a result, it appears that it is no longer common for Samsung’s smartphones to be equipped with Samsung components.

Galaxy S25 series adopts Micron RAM

According to an article by SamMobile, the Galaxy S25 series will have memory from a manufacturer other than Samsung. Micron has been chosen as the primary DRAM supplier for Samsung’s flagship smartphone Galaxy S25 series in the first half of 2025, which is set to officially launch in early February. Therefore, the LPDDR5 memory that will be included in the Galaxy S25 series will mostly be equipped with Micron’s RAM. Micron has been the secondary memory supplier for Samsung’s smartphones for more than a decade, and this is the first time it has been chosen as the primary supplier.

Samsung’s memory competitiveness wanes

Because of this, we can indirectly confirm that the situation of Samsung Electronics memory is not positive. According to a domestic report, Samsung memory was inferior to Micron in terms of performance, but its supply price was more expensive than Micron. The MX division is already very sensitive to manufacturing costs due to the Snapdragon 8 Elite being installed entirely, but if DRAM prices are increased, consumer prices may be increased significantly or profitability may be weakened.

Why Micron Memory Is Expected

It may not be a good situation for Samsung Electronics as a whole, but I think it is news that can satisfy the expectations of the Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to be more complete because it is cheaper for consumers and uses better parts. The Galaxy S25 series is expected to start with 12GB RAM, including the S25 base model, and the 512GB and 1TB storage options are rumoured to top 16GB for the ultra model.
