hello. This is Technologytodaynow. The much-talked-about One UI 7 update has finally begun. There’s also news about One UI 8, so let’s take a closer look.
One UI 7 Update Schedule and News for One UI 8

Starting on the 7th, the One UI 7 update has begun for several models, including the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. The update schedule for major models is as follows.
- April: S23 Series, S24 Pen Edition, Fold 5, Galaxy Tab S10 Series
- May: S22 series, S21 series, Fold 4, Flip 4, Galaxy Tab S9 and S8 series
- June: Galaxy Tab S9 Fan Edition Series, Tab A9 Series, Tab Active 4 Pro
One UI 7 included a lot of changes, which led to a delay of about 6 months from the original schedule. So it will take more time for all models to be updated.
Expectations for One UI 8 Update
However, as the update schedule has been delayed, there are concerns that the Android update may also be delayed. One UI 7 was developed based on Android 15, but the beta version of Android 16 has been progressing faster than 15, and is currently at Beta 3.2. If the update for One UI 8 is delayed like One UI 7, it is possible that Galaxy users will also experience Android 16 significantly later. However, there is also a possibility that One UI 8 may be released earlier than expected.
One UI 8 update is possible
According to a report by SamMobile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will be launched with One UI 8. In the meantime, the delay in the One UI 7 update has caused major complaints among Galaxy users, especially international users, which has led to concerns about the impact that the delay will have on the One UI 8’s schedule. However, according to rumors that have been around since last winter, the One UI 8 update is likely to go faster than expected. As a result, the One UI 8 update is expected to go smoothly, unlike the postponed One UI 7.
One UI 8 release plan
According to SamMobile, One UI 8 will be released on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 as standard. Android 16 will release a stabilized version in June or July, so Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are expected to be released after Android 16. Normally, the Galaxy Z series was released in July or August, but it seems likely that will happen again this time. However, considering that the update cycle was very short, no significant changes are expected in One UI 7, and I don’t think there will be many additional features on Android 16.
