Galaxy Buds FE, Buds Core product name change

hello. This is Technologytodaynow. There is news that the product name of the Galaxy Buds FE will be changed, so I would like to take a closer look.

Galaxy Buds FE Expected to Change Product Name To Another Name

Galaxy Buds FE Expected to Change Product Name To Another Name

Currently, Samsung is known to be developing an earphone with the model number SM-R410. Considering that the Galaxy Buds Fan Edition, which was released back in 2023, is the SM-R400 model number, I think the SM-R400 will be the successor to the Galaxy Buds Fan Edition and will be a mid- to low-end cordless earphone. If that happens, the product was expected to be renamed to either the Galaxy Buds 2 Pen Edition or the Galaxy Buds 2 Pen Edition. However, it is possible that the name will be completely different from the one expected.

Galaxy Buds Fan Edition Expected to Change Naming to Galaxy Buds Core

On India’s BIS certification website, SM-R410 was found to have passed certification. According to the certification, it is registered as a Bluetooth headset. Uniquely, you can also check the marketing name, and the marketing name is Galaxy Buds Core, not Galaxy Buds Fan Edition 2.

It’s a completely different name than I expected. Since the name Galaxy Buds is included and the product is classified as a Bluetooth headset, it’s clear that it’s a wireless earphone product. However, the meaning of the name Core is important. There was a smartphone lineup called the Galaxy Core that was released in 2013 and 2014. These products were low-priced products targeting the Chinese market and the elderly.

Fan Edition to Core Change

If the product is released as is, I think the name Core may replace the name Pen Edition, starting with the Galaxy Buds Core. Personally, I don’t find the name Pen Edition that appealing at this point. When the Fan Edition first appeared in the Galaxy S20 series, it was a product that lowered the consumer price by loading the main specifications preferred by consumers and reducing the cost of specifications with lower priority. However, with the Fan Edition products released after the S20 FE, there were many cases where I questioned whether they were products for fans, and the word Pen in the name also felt a bit pretentious.

Galaxy Buds Core Name Possible Change

If this Galaxy Buds Core is the process of changing the fan edition’s name to Core, I think this is a positive change because it seems to mean focusing on the preferred core specifications. However, that’s something we’ll only know once we actually launch it. Only the registration is in Galaxy Buds Core, but there’s a possibility that it’ll be released as Galaxy Buds Fan Edition 2, or it might not be the successor to the Galaxy Buds Fan Edition. So we’ll have to wait and see the results.
