Galaxy S25 Edge Expected to Degraded Performance

There is not much official information about the slim model of the Galaxy S series, the Galaxy S25 Edge, which will be released in the upcoming second quarter, except for the design and thickness of 6.4mm.
However, according to leaked rumors, there seem to be some concerning factors. When you look at the specifications of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is known through Android Police’s reporting, it is somewhat lacking compared to its peers.

First of all, as it is already known, the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to pack a 3,900mAh battery. While the size is closer to a plus model, the shorter usage time is likely to be pointed out as a drawback, as the 6.4mm thinness reduces the battery’s capacity compared to the S25 base model.

Maximum charging output slightly lower than other models

In addition, there is another weakness regarding the battery. It is said that the maximum charging output will be limited to 25W. In this S25 series, the charging output limit has been somewhat eased, resulting in a shorter time to charge with 45W charging output than the previous series, but the smaller battery capacity and lower charging output are feared to be the biggest drawbacks of the Galaxy S25 Edge.

Concerns over Galaxy S25 Edge Chipset Performance Degradation

Besides the batteries, the company is expected to have performance issues as well. The Galaxy S25 Edge will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which will make the S25 series a masterpiece. However, the maximum performance is expected to be slightly lower than other models. The Edge model will be equipped with a modified 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite.

This seven-core chip is a variant designed for foldable smartphones, and there was recent news that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be equipped with 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite as an AP made for foldable smartphones, which is often when the cooling system of foldable smartphones is relatively poor compared to bar-type smartphones due to the lack of internal design space. In addition, the Galaxy Fold is relatively thick compared to the recently released foldable smartphones, but the need for the 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to grow further because the smartphones released in China are very thin.

design and portability dilemma

The Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to be the thinnest among bar-type smartphones, excluding the iPhone 17 Air, which will be released in the second half of the year. However, it is expected to lack a cooling system due to this, and is likely to be equipped with a 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite. Therefore, the controversy over the ambiguity of this model is expected to continue. The most important factor in portable devices is portability, but the question arises as to whether it is worth sacrificing performance and battery for a display that is close to the plus size.

If you exclude the display size, the edge model’s position is unlikely to be as high as expected because the basic S25 model is expected to be much better in terms of performance, battery, and price. I think I will choose the Edge model only if it has additional advantages in addition to what is currently known, but I am worried about what will happen.
