Can it be popularized with Galaxy Z Flip 7, Exynos 2500

As I’ve said many times before, one of the reasons I’m looking forward to the upcoming Galaxy S25 is that it will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, not the Exynos 2500 chipset.
Exynos 2500, which was scheduled to be produced by Samsung Foundry’s 3-nano process, is said to be unable to be installed on the Galaxy S25 due to difficulties in production yield.
However, this does not mean that Samsung has completely given up on the Exynos 2500, and it seems likely that the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the next-generation foldable smartphone, will feature its own AP, the Exynos 2500.

Production status of Exynos 2500 that is likely to be equipped with Galaxy Z Flip 7

According to a report by the Seoul Economic Daily, Samsung Foundry has begun mass production of the Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung has initially started production at its S3 plant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, and work is underway to install the chipset on the Galaxy Z Flip 7. However, the issue is yield. The fact that the Exynos 2500 currently yields around 20 percent seems to be an important issue to be addressed during the mass production process.

Reasons to install Exynos on Galaxy Z Flip 7

Samsung’s biggest reason for the Exynos chip on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is to reduce manufacturing costs. Using Exynos instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset can help stabilize consumer prices because it can lower costs. Price competitiveness is essential for the popularization of foldable smartphones, and since the current Flip series sells more than other foldable models, it is highly likely to strategically choose Exynos.

Performance gap, price-to-value issues

The existing Flip series showed stable performance through the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. On the other hand, the Exynos chipset was often evaluated as having lower performance than Snapdragon. Therefore, if there is no improvement in performance, it is likely to have a negative impact on consumer satisfaction. If the launch price of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is not significantly reduced, the transition from Snapdragon to Exynos may have a negative impact on consumers.

Conclusion

How the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be evaluated in the market with the Exynos 2500 depends on two variables: the actual performance of the Exynos 2500 and the end-user price. If Samsung Electronics is satisfied with Exynos’ performance through the Flip 7, it will be able to regain credibility from consumers, but if not, the crisis in Samsung Foundry is expected to intensify. Attention is focusing on whether the Flip 7 with Exynos 2500 will be released with satisfactory performance and price.
