Hello, I’m Technology Today Now. Today, I’d like to share with you the latest news on Samsung’s next-generation foldable smartphone, Galaxy Z Fold 6 slim model. Not long ago, when news broke that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 slim model passed domestic certification, there are growing questions about its name and expected specifications. Recently, I heard that the official model name has been decided, so I’d like to take a closer look.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 slim model official name
Name leaked: ‘Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition’
The official name of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 slim model, which many consumers had been wondering about, was recently leaked. According to IT leaker evleaks, the official name of the model has been confirmed as the “Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.” Unlike previously expected “Fold 6 Slim,” “Fold 6 Ultra,” and “Fold 6 Pro,” it will use the new name “Z Fold Special Edition,” and only a limited number of approximately 400,000 to 500,000 units will be produced.
Reasons for the naming change
The reason for calling it a “special edition” rather than using the number “Fold 6” is likely to emphasize that it’s a limited edition. It’s expected that consumers will be able to call it the Z Fold SE for short. While this model is higher spec than the regular Fold 6, the lack of pen input makes the Ultra name a bit ambiguous.
Possibility of being misunderstood as entry-level
However, while the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is a high-end model in terms of specs, I personally think that the “SE” designation could lead consumers to think it’s a low-end model like Apple’s iPhone SE. Therefore, Samsung needs to better communicate the features and benefits of this model.
High-spec, slim models
This model will offer users a new experience with its thin and light design and improved performance. In particular, it is expected to attract collectors’ attention due to its limited edition nature. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 slim model is also expected to be around 10mm thick when folded, which is similar to its competitor, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. It is expected to feature a slim and sleek design, and the reduced thickness compared to its predecessor is expected to increase user-friendliness.
