hello. This is Technologytodaynow. The Galaxy Fold Special Edition, which was scheduled to launch on October 25, 2024, has been delayed due to quality issues. Although the launch of the Galaxy Fold SE has been delayed, Samsung is likely to offer consumers more options with the release of variants like this one, and we’ve got news of a Galaxy Z Fold 7 variant that we’d like to take a look at.
Galaxy Z Flip 7, Fold 7, and Fold 7 derivative model codenames leaked
Galaxy Z Fold 7 variant model codenames and what they mean
A new report from Galaxy Club suggests that a new foldable model of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be coming next year. Speaking of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung is reportedly working on three foldable models, codenamed the B7, Q7, and Q7M.
- B7: Galaxy G Flip 7 days likely
- Q7: Expect a standard model of the Galaxy Z Fold 7
- Q7M: Expected as an additional variant of Z-Fold 7
We don’t know what the alphabet means, but given that the Q7 and Q7M codenames start with the same Q, we’re guessing that the Q7M will be a premium or special edition of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Furthermore, it seems likely that it will be a three-stage foldable model like Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate.
Is the Fold 7 derivative model a cheap model?
While it’s tempting to assume that it’s a lower-priced model, a recent intercom from a Samsung representative revealed that the company recently launched a special edition of the Galaxy Z Fold “to provide more choices.” So it seems unlikely that the Q7M will be a lower-priced foldable, and more likely that it’s a special edition with premium features.
When and how Fold 7 derivatives will be released
The Q7M is in rapid development alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is expected to launch in the second half of 2025. Samsung will be focusing on the Galaxy S25 series during the first half of the year, so the Z Fold 7 series is expected to launch in the second half of the year.
