Samsung Electronics, which is set to release its seventh-generation foldable smartphone, seems to be still cautious when it comes to batteries. According to a report by Android Authority, a media outlet specializing in Android, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung’s seventh-generation foldable smartphones with model numbers SM-F7600 and SM-F9660, have passed China’s 3C certification.
Particularly noteworthy is the charging output. Both models are certified by EP-TA 800 chargers with 9V/2.77A and 25W output. In the past, there have been cases where 3C certification was passed with 25W output chargers and actual charging was supported, but they generally tended to follow the certified charger output.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 Charging Speed
That’s why the maximum charging output for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 is likely to be limited to 25W. While the charging speed difference between 25W and 45W on the Galaxy smartphone was not much different, the Galaxy S25 series also showed a slightly faster charging speed than before. Among the foldable smartphones released this year, Oppo’s Find N5 supports up to 80W on wired charging and up to 50W on wireless charging. And for the Galaxy A56, an entry-level smartphone released this year, it supports 45W charging.
As the news came out, if the Galaxy Z Fold 7 supports 25W output, the same charging performance will continue to be maintained without further development after upgrading from 15W of the Galaxy Z Fold 1 to 25W of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. It is regrettable that 25W charging will continue on the Galaxy Z series, the top-tier lineup of Samsung’s smartphones.
New Upgrades to Expect
However, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are not completely upgrade-free. Fold 7 is expected to be thinner than the Fold Special Edition, and the main display is expected to grow to 8.2 inches in size.
