Hi, this is Technologytodaynow. The iPhone 16 lineup was just unveiled yesterday, and it’s getting a lot of attention. In this article, we’ve rounded up some of the most important elements that Apple didn’t officially mention.
iPhone 16 lineup, what’s different?
Changes to the USB-C port in the iPhone 16 lineup
In the iPhone 16 lineup, the USB-C port remains similar to its predecessor.
The base model still uses a USB 2.0 port and is limited to a maximum transfer speed of 10GB/s.
On the other hand, in the pro lineup, USB 3 ports are applied for high-speed data transfer.
Camera sensor and lens coatings
The iPhone 16 Pro line-up features an F/1.78 48MP fusion camera and an f2.8 12MP 5X telephoto camera. Sony’s IMX903 sensor, which was rumored, is not installed, so the difference between the Pro and Pro Max in this pro line-up is once again only the display size and battery difference.
The lens coating is also worth noting. Previous rumors suggested that the 16 Pro lineup would have a lens with a special coating to improve ghosting and flare, and if you check the iPhone comparison on Apple’s official website, you can see that the cameras in the 16 Pro lineup have an AR low-reflective coating, which will help reduce ghosting and flare. However, while the base model also gets the AR coating, it’s only on the 48MP Fusion main camera, not the ultra-wide-angle camera.
A18 chipset and performance improvements
The iPhone 16 base model is powered by the A18 chipset, and if you check the scores in the leaked Geekbench 6 benchmark, you’ll see that it scored 3114 single-core and 6666 multi-core. This represents a performance increase of about 15% over the iPhone 15, as Apple mentioned. The benchmark scores for the Pro lineup are also up slightly, with a single core score of 3,018 and multi-core score of 7751.
Weight change
The iPhone 16 Pro lineup is slightly heavier than its predecessors. The iPhone 16 Pro weighs 199 grams, an increase of 12 grams over the 15 Pro, and the 16 Pro Max is 6 grams heavier at 227 grams. However, compared to the 14 Pro lineup, which used stainless steel frames, they will still feel on the light side.
