iPhone 17 Air Design and iOS Latest News
A photo of a case where you can see the iPhone 17 Air design in advance is leaked

The first photos that indirectly give a glimpse of the design of the iPhone 17 series have been released. The photos of the iPhone 17 Air case have appeared via Sonny Dickson’s Twitter. Dickson noted that if many people had not heard of the iPhone 17 Air’s release, they would have mistaken this case for Google’s Pixel case.
The design of the case is very simple. The iPhone 17 Air has a straight bar-type camera bump, and the top of the case has an oval straight hole.
This design is definitely very similar to the pixel case.
Simple iPhone 17 Air Case Design
Compared to the exterior of the official case of the Google Pixel 9, the hole for the camera looks pretty much the same, but seems to have changed its position slightly. My personal concern is that the iPhone 17 Air’s camera bump is located close to the front camera.
And I know that the thickness of the cotton camera module is quite thick, and I’m worried that the camera bump could get thicker if that happens.
Design Thickness and Camera Bump
Also, the thickness of the iPhone 17 Air is as thin as 5mm, so I think the camera bump will be more noticeable. Looking at this case, I think the design of the Air will be good, but the design of the Pro model feels that the case will be a bit burdensome. I’m curious about how the actual product will feel and, on the other hand, I’m worried.
Changes in iOS 19 and the demands of the European Union
And there’s news about iOS, for many of the changes expected to apply to iOS 19 versions, the EU has announced updates that should be legally included in iOS 19 and iOS 20 in the future. These are interoperability requirements Apple must comply with in the EU under the Digital Markets Act, which has been in effect since March 2024.
- First, Apple should be able to display and interact with iOS notifications on third-party smartwatches and not on Apple Watches by the end of 2025.
- Secondly, by June 1, 2026, third-party headphones must be provided with automatic audio switching.
- Thirdly, we need to ensure that third parties can provide an equivalent airdrop alternative by the same date.
Finalize
Finally, Apple must provide an AirPlay equivalent by late 2026 or iOS 20. Apple claims this decision is bad for both its own products and European users. I personally think this requirement is a bit excessive, except for the smartwatch part. While elements such as USB-C, NFC, and the App Store are intentionally restricted by Apple so that they cannot be replaced, this requirement seems excessively restrictive because it covers parts that can be replaced by third parties.
