iPhone 20th Anniversary New Design Expected to Be Adopted

hello. This is Technologytodaynow. When the iPhone was first unveiled at the Marworld event in 2007, its large 3.5-inch display and capacitive touchscreen support for multi-touch drew a lot of attention, and to mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone’s launch in 2017, the iPhone X removed the home button and introduced the notch design, leading to the innovation of the iPhone. Now, the iPhone is about to mark its 20th anniversary. The iPhone 19 series, which will be released in 2027, is expected to celebrate its 20th anniversary with the iPhone 19 Pro and iPhone 19 Pro Max or a new-name model, and discussions about changes are continuing.

Big changes expected for iPhone 20th anniversary

Big changes expected for iPhone 20th anniversary

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, there will be a big change for the 20th anniversary iPhone. Apple is reportedly developing foldable and bar-type iPhones for the 20th anniversary, and specifically, the 20th anniversary iPhone Pro models mentioned that they are preparing for a big change by using glass materials more widely.

However, there was no specific mention of the design change, except that it would increase the proportion of glass materials. When Johnny Ibb first conceived the iPhone design, he said that he wanted a thin shape that looked like a piece of glass. Recently, Apple has been making thick and somewhat rugged iPhones because of practical design issues, but as we mark our 20th anniversary, it is possible that we will get closer to the design we originally planned.

iPhone 20th Anniversary Expected to Introduce Curved Design

In order to implement a design that looks like a single piece of glass, it seems that the current angular sesame leaf Tongyeong design will have to return to a curved form like the iPhone X. Among the products currently being released, it is possible that the side curvature like the Apple Watch X will be applied again. Furthermore, if the side of the cover glass of the front display is greatly expanded like Samsung’s display, and glass material is used on the side as well, it may be possible to make it look like a single piece of glass even when viewed from the side.

durability issues

But I’m also worried because these changes can lead to durability issues. Looking at Mark Gurman’s previous claim, he claimed that the iPhone 17 Air, an ultra-slim iPhone, is Apple’s first step toward the ultimate iPhone form, and that the same ultra-slim thickness as the iPhone Air will apply to all iPhone models. In this iPhone 17 Pro’s rear camera design neck-up, the glass-based camera bump didn’t look bad. I wonder if the rear camera bump of the iPhone 17 Pro is also part of the process of expanding the glass material.
