hello. This is Technologytodaynow. There is news that One UI 7 will be released sooner than expected, so we will take a closer look.
One UI 8 Development News
Serious problems with One UI 7

One UI 7, whose release date was delayed by about half a year, started updating to models other than the Galaxy S25 series last week, but the update was halted due to a serious bug issue. According to a notice posted on Samsung Members, the One UI 7 update was to be implemented for the Galaxy S24 series, Fold 6, and Flip 6 from the 7th of this month, but the update was halted as some issues requiring inspection were discovered. Then, from the evening of April 17, the modified firmware was redistributed.
The serious issues known so far with One UI 7 are known to be issues that greatly hinder use, such as battery draining too quickly, overheating issues, disabling the Secure Folder, and the unlocking not working, requiring a factory reset but unlocking the phone.
One UI 8 release date is likely to be earlier
However, despite these issues, the launch of One UI 8 is expected to proceed very quickly. One UI 7 is based on Android 15 and One UI 8 is based on Android 16. As I said before, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are expected to run with One UI 8 as standard. The early experience of Android 16 will be good news for Galaxy users. However, due to the short period of preparation, it seems better not to expect too much.
One UI 8 Design Change

The physical photo of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 powered by One UI 8 has been revealed through the Indian IT media’s SmartPrix. You can see the overall design, icon, layout, and new features of One UI 8 through the photo. As expected, it runs on Android 16. Since it’s built on One UI 7, most of them show similar designs to One UI 7, but there are minor design changes in basic apps like My Files and Gallery apps.
On the left is the file app for One UI 7, and on the right is the file app for One UI 8. The main file panel has changed its design, and the gallery app has a different design for key panels that appear when holding. Previous designs only had icons and texts in the same color, but in the new design, the icons are surrounded by round panels, with text underneath them. The main actions are that icons and texts are wrapped together in oval panels, with shades added to the background other than the icons.
Now Brief feature leak
And the Now Brief feature, which was only supported by the Galaxy S25 series and not by lower models, has been confirmed to exist on the One UI 8 settings page of the leaked Fold 6. However, since this is a leaked version, it may have been included because it is a test build, or the Now Brief feature may be omitted in the official release version to differentiate it from the S25. Although the name is One UI 8, it seems reasonable to view it as One UI 7.1. Since the update cycle is expected to be very short, it seems that we will have to be satisfied with the more refined appearance of One UI 7.1 and the ability to quickly use Android 16.
