다가오는 7월에 출시될 것으로 예상되는 갤럭시 Z 폴드 7과 갤럭시 Z 플립 7은 안드로이드 16 기반으로 하는 OneUI 8.0으로 작동될 것으로 예상되고 있는데요.
굉장히 짧은 주기로 OneUI 7.0에서 OneUI 8.0으로 업데이트가 되기 때문에 변화점이 크지 않을 것이라는 예상이 지배적입니다. 다소 아쉽지만 그래도 안드로이드 16을 빠르게 사용할 수 있다는 점은 좋은 것 같은데요. 그런데 최근 삼성이 새로운 버전의 OneUI를 준비 중인 것으로 보입니다.
Samsung is developing OneUI 8.5 for Galaxy 26
According to a report by GSM Arena, Samsung Electronics is working on OneUI 8.5 for the Galaxy S26 series. Currently, Samsung is deploying OneUI 7.0 on its devices, and as mentioned earlier, OneUI 8.0 is being developed to prepare for the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, according to a recent report by GSM Arena, information about OneUI 8.5 was found in the code of the Samsung software system. Although it is not yet certain, OneUI 8.5 is expected to run on the Galaxy S26 series.
Why is it being released in OneUI 8.5 instead of OneUI 8.1
Samsung hasn’t released a .5 OneUI update since OneUI 2.5 in 2020. It’s really surprising that it’s coming out as 8.5 and not 8.1. Usually, there’s a big difference between the timing of Android updates and OneUI updates, but I think the reason OneUI updates have been so fast recently may be because they’re trying to align the timing of Android updates with OneUI updates.
Changes expected in the future
As mentioned earlier, the leaked OneUI 8.0 is expected to be almost identical to OneUI 7.0, and it seems to be a significant update in that it will be able to run Android 16. If OneUI 8.5 is being released to coincide with the Android upgrade, it is expected that OneUI 8.5 will be the true successor to OneUI 7.0.
