hello. This is Technologytodaynow. There is news that Samsung is preparing to release a three-stage foldable smartphone tentatively named Galaxy G Multi Fold, so we are taking a closer look.
Samsung preparing to launch Galaxy G Multi-Fold
Various Samsung foldable smartphones expected to be released this year

This year, Samsung Electronics is likely to release more foldable smartphones than usual.
Models expected to be released this year include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Pen Edition, an entry-level clamshell foldable smartphone, and finally, a high-end three-fold foldable smartphone.
These models are aimed at some foldable fans who want a bigger display rather than aiming to sell in bulk, and they also aim to showcase foldable technology.
Therefore, the manufacturing cost is expected to be quite high. According to a report by Wccftech, the tentatively named Galaxy Z Multiple Fold is planning to produce 200,000 units.
Galaxy Z Multi-Fold Production Plan and Release Schedule
According to reports, Samsung Electronics is rumoured to launch the Galaxy G Multi-Fold, the world’s second three-fold foldable smartphone since Huawei’s Mate XT. According to a recent report, Samsung plans to start mass production of the Galaxy G Multi-Fold’s components in May, and will begin production alongside the Galaxy Fold 7 and Flip 7. And the model is expected to be unveiled together at a Galaxy Unpacked event in the second half of the year.
However, there is a possibility that the Galaxy G Fold will be announced in a similar format to the Galaxy S25. There is also a possibility that it will release a teaser video at the end of the unpack event, display the pre-launch product at the venue, and release it later.
What makes Huawei Mate XT Galaxy G Multi-Fold different
According to rumors so far, the Galaxy G Fold is making a few big differences from the Huawei Mate XT that has already been released. The Huawei Mate XT features both out-folding and in-folding construction at the same time, and can be used just by unfolding it once more. And it offers continuity that can be unfolded once more if you need a larger display.
Samsung’s Galaxy G Fold, on the other hand, is said to have been designed to fold twice, and it is expected that the main display will need to be unfolded both times. In addition, it may require a separate cover display, which can make it heavier.
Possibility of resolving durability issues
However, as there are advantages, there are disadvantages as well. Foldable smartphones that are currently on the market have not been able to overcome their durability issues, and their out-folding approach, in particular, is very vulnerable to durability due to exposure to external shocks. In fact, the Mate XT encountered problems because it could not overcome these limitations. However, the Galaxy G Fold has a low risk of breakage due to external shocks, as its main display is not exposed to the outside.
The Mate XT method is better for usability, but if durability issues are resolved, Samsung Electronics may use both in-folding and out-folding methods. However, due to the limitations of the current technology, it seems that they have chosen to fold it twice.
Excluding digitizer that recognizes S Pen
In addition, the Galaxy G Multi-Fold is expected to be missing the S-Pen recognizer, such as the Fold Special Edition or Fold 7. With only the Mate XT, the digitizer seems to be missing to compete for thickness. The double-folding structure can make it thicker than the existing foldable, so it seems to be moving toward reducing the thickness except for the digitizer.
Estimated price
The launch price is expected to be significantly higher. The Mate XT is said to be priced at EUR 3,499. Therefore, the Galaxy G Fold is expected to launch around a similar price point, which is likely to cost more than the Vision Pro. Furthermore, the Galaxy G Multi-Fold is expected to feature a large 9.96-inch display and a 6.49-inch cover display.
Like the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition and Vision Pro, this model offers you the opportunity to experience the next generation of technology first at a high price. So the volume of 200,000 units seems to be quite a lot, and we wonder if fans who prefer foldable devices will be able to pull it all off.
