When looking at single-model smartphone sales rankings in recent years, entry-level Galaxy products ranked fifth, sixth, and 10th, with iPhones tending to occupy almost all of the top four spots. The top smartphone sold in 2023 was the iPhone 14. However, when looking at last year’s sales rankings, it looked different than before.

According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 15 ranked first in single model smartphone sales in 2024. This was followed by the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro in second and third place, respectively, with the Galaxy A15 5G in fourth place, the iPhone 16 Pro Max in fifth place, the Galaxy A15 4G in sixth place, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra in seventh place.
The iPhone is still very popular, and the base model and Pro Max are also very popular. It is followed by a smaller Pro model, but the Plus model is not visible in the rankings. This is understandable why Samsung and Apple would want to replace the Plus model with another model.
Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Rise
What’s changed a lot from the previous one is that the Galaxy A55 5G model is in fourth place, unlike the iPhone that was in first to seventh place. Also, while there were only entry-level models in the top 10 for Samsung, it’s very positive that the flagship smartphone was included in the rankings this time with the Galaxy S24 Ultra in seventh place.

The Galaxy S24 series continued to sell successfully, and the Galaxy Tab S10 series also gained unexpected popularity, showing recent recovery in sales of Galaxy’s flagship product line. Since iPhone sales have not decreased, I think there seems to be a tendency to move to Samsung Electronics’ flagship products instead of Chinese flagship products.
