hello. This is Technologytodaynow. A new claim has been made about the thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which we will learn more about in this article.
Will the Galaxy Z Fold 7 be released as 8.9mm thick?

Various information is coming out on the thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which will be released in July.
At first, it was said that the thickness would be 9.5mm, but recently, it has been claimed that the thickness will be 8.2mm, making it difficult to get a clue as to the actual thickness. Because of this, it is difficult to get a clue as to how thick the Fold will actually be. A new claim has emerged about the thickness level of the Fold 7.
A claim emerges supporting the 8.2mm thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 7
According to Ice Universe’s Twitter, Samsung’s upcoming flagship products will focus on a thinner and lighter design, with the battery and body continuing to become slimmer. The Galaxy Fold 7 is expected to be the thinnest foldable device at the time of its release, measuring 3.9mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded, and it will be equipped with a 4,400mAh battery.

New battery and charging technology are expected to be applied, and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to have a battery capacity of 4,300 m. It also mentioned that the Galaxy S26 base model will still remain thin.
The meaning of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 thickness of 8.9mm
This is a very different story. There were rumors that the Fold 7 would be 8.2mm thick, but this was thought to be less realistic, and that the 9.5mm that was originally rumored would be the thickness of the Fold 7. So, the rehashing of the 4,400mAh battery at 9.5mm is an improvement in battery retention compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, but compared to the foldable smartphones released by other manufacturers, it was regrettable because the battery was thicker and the battery capacity was reduced.
However, that would be a different situation if it were launched in the 8.9mm range. Even having the title of the thinnest foldable smartphone at launch, the feeling of acceptance would be even greater.
Comparison with competitive models
With the Find M5 of Oppo, the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s biggest competitor, measuring 8.93 mm thick, the Fold 7 is expected to be slightly thinner than the Find M5 as the thinnest smartphone. However, the problem is that there is still a big gap in battery capacity. The Find M5 has a silicon-carbon battery that boasts a 5,600mAh capacity, while the Fold 7 only has a 4,400mAh capacity. While there is no significant difference in thickness, there is a significant difference in battery capacity.
Consumers tend to become insensitive to this change in recent years as Chinese smartphone manufacturers continue to stand out in the spec competition. Nevertheless, the improvement in thickness still holds great significance, and Oppo is not officially available in Korea, making the improvement even more significant when comparing thickness to previous Fold series. Therefore, the 12.1mm to 8.9mm change feels tremendously large.
Finalize
Although the performance of the battery is disappointing, this Galaxy Z Fold 7 has achieved a great improvement compared to the Fold 6 in terms of thickness. We can’t say that the Galaxy Fold is unconditionally good due to the huge improvement of China’s foldable smartphones, but the Galaxy Fold is still more reliable when it comes to durability. I was worried that the completeness of the foldable design, not the specifications, might be lagging behind that of Chinese products, but I’m glad that it shows that Samsung can also make it thin.
